Everllence (formerly MAN Energy Solutions) is a world leading innovator in two-stroke marine engine technology. They were looking to increase their control valve supplier list and to strengthen their supply chain.
Two-Stroke Marine Engines
Two-stroke marine engines rely on hydraulically actuated systems to control fuel injection and valve timing with extreme precision. These systems operate continuously under high load, making valve stability, response speed, and long-term reliability critical to engine efficiency and availability, They rely on fast and precise switching and proportional valves that can deliver consistent performance over long service intervals.
Domin, known for their commitment to high performance and innovation, welcomed the challenge. Leveraging their expertise in the field of hydraulic valve design, the Domin engineering team turned to their proven S6 Pro servo valve as a foundation. This architecture was chosen for its ability to deliver stable, repeatable hydraulic control in demanding, continuous-duty environments.
Building upon this base, Domin meticulously designed and constructed two bespoke valve solutions specifically tailored to meet Everllence’s exacting requirements in a marine environment, where consistent actuation and long-term reliability are essential to engine operation.
The Domin team created the first valve to be interchangeable with Everllence’s current pilot valves and deliver the fast and controlled tracking performance demanded. Its exceptional performance ensured easy integration with Everllence’s engine control systems, reducing complexity whilst maintaining full control accuracy, optimising engine operation.
Domin then designed a super-fast switching valve with the ability to excel in digital on/off actuation scenarios. Fast and reliable switching is critical in marine hydraulic systems, where delayed or inconsistent actuation can directly impact engine performance. The electronics on this valve were designed with circuit isolation and fault monitoring specific to Everllence’s requirements, supporting safe operation and rapid fault detection in a mission-critical environment.
