Hydraulics are Everywhere
Despite being central to almost all the most fundamental industries that build our world, hydraulics have not advanced at the same pace as other technology. Existing products, supply chains, and business models can be incredibly inefficient and wasteful.
This is not effective or sustainable, and we need to use the world’s precious resources more efficiently. Hydraulics is an industry that underpins almost all others, facilitating others to generate value for the world. It is used to steer and control the lift in planes, in the cars we drive every day, and in the cranes and diggers that build the world around us. Hydraulics is an almost invisible industry that is everywhere.
As human development continues to advance rapidly, the demand for energy will inevitably increase, serving as a crucial resource to fuel this progress. Being wasteful with energy results in industries losing time, money, and opportunities.
Transforming Hydraulics
Hydraulic designs have remained unchanged for the last 70 years, and according to Oak Ridge National Laboratories, these systems are only 22% efficient. A McKinsey report states that 15% of EU energy usage is from fluid pumps, which means hydraulics are wasting enough energy each year to power 82 million homes, and that’s just in the EU.
This problem doesn’t stem from just one inefficient component. It is a compounding effect of outdated system design and the connecting together of a string of individual components, through a centralised system.

Transforming Motion Control
At Domin, we have returned to a first-principles approach and redesigned hydraulic technology with innovations like hall effect sensors, metal 3D printing, modern electronics and advanced design and simulation techniques. We have created a brand-new set of core technologies to improve the efficiencies of hydraulic systems.
These are the high-speed control valve and ultra-compact high-performance pump, which allow us to address the energy efficiency problem while still achieving the performance and precision required by hydraulic systems to power our world.
With this new approach, we are transforming motion control, pushing the boundaries of performance and efficiency, and giving companies products that unlock value like never before.
